2012 Labor Day Tour de Tortoise

Today ole Debz and I took on quite a challenge, an 18 mile bike ride. I called it the "2012 Labor Day Tour de Tortoise." I was the tortoise and Debz was the hare, but, in the end, the tortoise won, because he didn't crash. We had a number of senior moments. Here are some highlights of our adventures on the Millcreek Streamway Park path.

The hare started out well, then . . .

she received a phone call, so . . .
the tortoise jumped out in front. Afterward, . .
we raced by beautiful, rippling streams, and . . .
tree-lined paths. Then, . .
the tortoise had to take yet another break, so . . .

the hare took advantage, taking the lead. Then, . .
the hare caught the whiff of something dead, so. . .

she stopped to explore, and . . .
the tortoise again gained a small lead. Then, . .
the tortoise ran into this strange squirrel, so
the hare also stopped to take a look. Then, . .
we took a corny photo, and . . .
another, Then, . .
the sneaky tortoise slipped away to resume his lead, and, . .
the hare was barely in sight, when suddenly. . .

the hare caught up, and there was a nasty crash.
The hare got some boo boos, but she had a great time.

The moral of the story: slow and steady wins the race.
