Rock Bass Update #6

Okay, here's the final plan for the big day. I sure
hope it works. 1st, Debz, the Vanna White of
fishing videos, is going to seek the help of good
ole Brucie. She's never caught a fish in her life!
She is, however, an excellent damsel in distress.

2nd, we're going to generally follow the plan discussed
below. Turn your volume up so you can hear the details.

3rd, we going to use the simpler process below to
deploy the ole rock bass in the devious deception.
Wish us well, and stay tuned for the final outcome.

Rock Bass Update #5

In this test, we tried something we thought would
work well, but it proved kinda complicated. Looks
like a simpler approach is going to be our best bet.

When the woman below found out we were in the
rock-bass, mechanical fishing business, she just
started cuttin-the-rug, Michael Jackson style. I
just think she needed an excuse to get down and
wiggle like the ole rock bass. Now she's goin down
in history as the Frisco Lake Park Rock Bass Queen.

Rock Bass Update #4

Well, throwing the ole rock bass out further seemed
to work out well, and the added weights helped too.
The bobber doesn't move a lot, but it does make sure
that the fish's fins get noticed. From a distance, you
also cannot make out that it's a fake fish. I think we're
getting closer to having this part of the prank ready.
Also, we got quite a bit of attention when we did these
field test. The people below were having a picnic and
they were constantly trying to figure out what in the
world we were doing. We didn't offer an explanations,
because it was too much fun blowing their minds. They
probably thought we were testing some new fishing
method for the 21st century, like mechanized fishing.

Rock Bass Update #3

Here's the first rock bass field test. It went pretty
well. The ole rock bass swims kinda slow, and he
tends to swim in a circle. Also, from only a few
feet out, you can easily see it's a fake fish, so we
are going to have to throw him out further to
fool ole Brucie. Finally, the fins stick up out of
the water a little too far, so we've got to add some
more weights. Stay tuned. Field test #2' is next.

Isn't Deb cute? She's the Vanna White of fishing
videos, don't you think? She thinks I'm half-crazy.

Rock Bass Update #2

Well, we've made a little progress on the technical
details relative to the ole rock bass. You can check
it out in the video clip below. Field testing is next.

A Devious Plan For Bruce's 50th Birthday Party--21st Century Rock Bass

My ole brother Bruce (below) loves to fish, and . . .
. . . his sister and brothers love to joke around
(we are Sawyer's--what else would you expect),
so we've got a devious plan to surprise Bruce
(explained in the video below). Note: Bruce doesn't
play in cyberspace, so there is very little chance
that he'll run across this post--unless you spill the
beans. Enjoy it, and stay tuned for more updates.
One Sawyer rite of passage (for little Sawyers)
is catching a "rock bass." A "rock bass" is simply
a rock that has been tied to a little Sawyers fishing
pole while the youngster is distracted by other
things. Old Sawyers attach a rock, just the right
size, so the bobber bobs up and down just right.
Then, when the little Sawyer returns, much is
made of the bobber bobbing, so the little Sawyer
gets all excited. Then, per the picture below (my
daughter, Amy Sawyer, around 1988), family
fishing history is made forever. No one lets the
poor little Sawyer forget it--the story is etched
in family history forever and ever. Hence, this
joke on Bruce, an ironic reversal, is rooted in a
rich history of Sawyer tradition. Long-live the
ole "rock bass," and may this plan enhance the
rich Sawyer history of onery practical jokes.

Interruptions - Some Wise Words

“A few years ago I met an old professor at the University of Notre Dame. Looking back on his long life of teaching, he said with a funny twinkle in his eyes: ‘I have always been complaining that my work was constantly interrupted, until I slowly discovered that my interruptions were my work.’" (Henri J. Nouwen, Out of Solitude)

It's A Dog's Life

This video contains some amateur but top-notch audio/video editing, and some insightful wisdom relative to dogs. The maker not only puts words in the dog's mouth, he or she also interjects feelings. Dogs and body-language go together, so this video is ingenius.

A New Take On Being Heavenly-minded

I think the aim was to get their audience to look not to the things that are seen/temporal but to the things that are unseen/eternal. Honesty, it just made me real hungry.
